Academic and Career Counseling
ETOP offers a variety of career development resources ranging from academic advising and career counseling, to career development software, and career planning guidebooks. Academic advising and career counseling is provided based on the career goals of employees using training and educational needs assessments, individual and small group consultation sessions, testing, and other techniques.
ETOP serves as an educational advocate and liaison for represented workers in their relationship with external educational providers. Through its academic/career counselors, arrangements can be made to offer college credit courses and non-credit training programs on-site. Educational information on behalf of all area postsecondary institutions, including trade and/or vocational schools is available in the Enhanced Learning Center.
Represented workers' first step in career planning may be taken virtually by accessing the Inside ETOP Web site. Initially, an individual should have an understanding of how one's values, interests, personality, skills, and aptitudes relate to a career. Workers have the option of completing a personality and interest inventory, as well as, obtaining career development information online.
